OCTOBER BRAZILIAN IRON ORE EXPORT VOLUMES RISE, PRICES FALL.

October Brazilian iron ore export volumes increased over the previous month, according to data compiled by the foreign trade ministry, Secex.
Shipments totaled 32.6 million metric tons, 18% above the 27.6 million mt exported in September. While the value of overall sales increased 8.6% to $2.6 billion, the average price per ton dropped from $87.9/mt FOB to $80.9/mt FOB in October.
On a year-on-year basis, exports grew 17.4% in volume from 27.8 million mt shipped in October 2011, but overall sales dipped 30% from $3.8 billion FOB during the same period last year. Average prices were 40.8% higher in 2011 at $136.6/mt FOB.
