Blackhawk de Mexico, Monterrey, will increase capacity by 50% with upgrades expected to be complete by late 2013, says CEO Patricio Gil.
The foundry will install a nobake moulding line and more melting capacity, increasing its product size range from 2kg to 90kg up to 2kg to 272kg.
The engineering is being developed by GEMCO, the melting equipment will be supplied by Inductotherm and the moulding line and sand system will be from IMF.
Blackhawk is focussed on grey and ductile iron castings mainly for the heavy truck and farm equipment industries. Currently the facility has a capacity of 25,000 tons/year, operating three greensand match plate moulding lines with coreless induction melting.
