Borusan Mannesmann, a Turkish steel pipe manufacturer, has partnered with Siemens for the expansion of its operations to the U.S. The company is building its new ERW (electric resistance welded) pipe mill and accompanying heat-treatment plant to quench and temper oil-country tubular goods (OCTG) in Baytown, Texas.
This will be the first Turkish owned plant in the U.S. Siemens will supply a direct-fired, walking-beam austenitizing furnace; a high-pressure, water-spray quench system; a convective, walking-beam tempering furnace; all associated material-handling equipment; all necessary instrumentation; and a PLC control system. The services include engineering, delivering, installing and commissioning for the heat-treatment plant.
