A major grant has been secured to develop a £14 million Advanced Metal Casting Centre (AMCC) in the UK to bridge the gap between fundamental research and full-scale industrial trials.
Funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), Constellium - the global leader in aluminium products and components - Brunel University and Jaguar Land Rover, the AMCC will be housed in a purpose-built 1000m3 laboratory at Brunel University.
The centre will serve the automotive industry but in the longer term will extend its knowledge to the aerospace, defence, electronics and general engineering sectors.
