Foundry industry premier league comes out to play.

Some of the top names in the global foundry industry have given their support to the upcoming FESA Foundry Workshop (24 June, Bromsgrove, UK). A highlight will be a presentation from Professor Garel Rhys CBE of the Cardiff Business School who can be frequently seen and heard in the UK media talking about the automotive industry. He will give an account of the industry and an insight into the impact of electric cars.
With papers on foundry and diecasting technology, insurance and foreign exchange currency, the Workshop will provide an excellent forum for debate and give delegates the opportunity to get to grips with key issues affecting the industry and their businesses. There will also be an insight into the financial assistance available from the Carbon Trust with examples of foundries who have successfully applied for grants and how they have benefited from their experiences, along with the pitfalls to watch out for.
Insurance costs have risen over the years and a number of foundries have even found difficulty in obtaining insurance. Having had many years experience of insurance in the foundry industry, a paper will be presented from Towergate.Foundry technology papers will tackle many relevant issues including: sand recovery, ladle lining, binders, gas fired furnaces, analysis, manipulators and hammers. In addition, during the morning in a breakout sessions, Professor John Campbell, will give a paper and host a discussion group on ‘New gating systems to maximise both quality and profit.’ The Workshop will be structured in two ways: three conference papers attended by all delegates, and four breakout sessions where delegates can choose to attend one of five of the 20 presentations taking place during the day - a good reason for foundries to send at lease four delegates. An exhibition comprising 25 tabletop displays will run alongside the workshop.
Delegates can attend from any country but the organisers expect attendance to predominantly comprise of representatives from British foundries. This is an opportunity to meet experts in many sectors and those in a similar position to delegates - practical foundrymen who have overcome obstacles to improve the competitiveness of their companies. The Foundry Workshop will help attendees develop stronger links with their peers and the informal structure means delegates can focus on the information they need.
The number of delegate places is restricted to 130 places. The delegate fee (foundries) is £47 including VAT, which includes tea and coffee plus buffet lunch. The delegate fee for all other categories is £140.40 including VAT.
The Foundry Workshop is organised by the Foundry Equipment and Supplies Association (FESA) and supported by the Institute of Cast Metals Engineers (ICME) and the Diecasting Society.
