Brazil rejects EU allegations of protectionism.

Brazil's minister for external relations Luiz Alberto Figueiredo Machado is rejecting the European Union's allegations of protectionism against the country. “We are confident that we have solid arguments to prove our full compliance with multilateral trade rules," he told journalists.
The EU filed a request for consultations with the World Trade Oganization last week over Brazil's tax practices and, while the steel sector was not mentioned specifically, the request did include steel-related sectors, such as automotive, as well as Brazil's tax policies for exporters.
