First aluminium plant in Ethiopia

deal between Al Ghurair Group and the Ethiopian firm Tracon Trading will build the first aluminium production plant in Ethiopia, with an investment worth $50 million.
Al Ghurair will provide equity financing while Tracon Trading will source funds from local investors and each partner will have equal share in the Ethiopian market.
The plant will have a starting production capacity of some 25 to 30 thousand metric tonnes of aluminium, will substitute the importation of aluminium to satisfying the local demand and will export to other East African countries.
