Promoted by the Brazilian Foundry Association (ABIFA), the event will also simultaneously host CONAF 2015 – the 17th Foundry Congress

Brazil ranks 7th worldwide in metal casting, producing 3 million metric tons a year

From September 28 to October 1, 2015, the city of São Paulo (SP) will host Latin America’s largest event in the metal casting industry: the 16th Latin American Foundry Fair (FENAF 2015) and, in parallel, the 17th Foundry Congress (CONAF 2015), which will take place at Expo Center Norte. Held by the Brazilian Foundry Association (ABIFA), the fair and congress are expected to receive over 400 companies from Brazil and abroad, and roughly 30,000 visitors from various countries.

"Representatives of companies and organizations from countries that import and export foundry-related products will be at FENAF 2015 to showcase the industry’s main trends and technologies relating to the casting of iron, steel and non-ferrous metals, and also to carry out global business deals,” states Remo De Simone, ABIFA president.

Because one of the main focuses of FENAF 2015 is to stimulate business, ABIFA – through an agreement with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Agency for the Promotion of Exports and Investments) – will hold Business Rounds, featuring the participation of 10 international buyers of metal castings from several countries around the world, who will conduct meetings with the companies registered in the Foundry Brazil project. Two foreign journalists will also be invited, to disseminate not only the event but also the Brazilian metal casting industry overall, through the “Imagem” Project. The initiative aims to position Brazil as a major world exporter of castings, through these strategic actions to promote global trade.

About the metal casting industry - Brazil is one of the world’s most outstanding countries in the metal castings market, placing seventh in the international ranking of production in this sector, accounting for around 3 million metric tons per year and revenues exceeding USD 11 billion.

The base of the entire production chain, the Brazilian metal casting sector is expected to reach sales of roughly USD 11 billion in 2014, with production of 3 million metric tons and more than 65,000 jobs, generating products for the automobile industry, the capital goods sector, infrastructure, steelworks, as well as for export.

About ABIFA – The Brazilian Foundry Association (ABIFA) has been on the market for 45 years, recognized worldwide for its significant role in its sector. Under the Organization’s current president, Remo De Simone, it gathers together the major Brazilian metal casting companies in order to encourage sustainable growth in the sector, creating and taking part in actions necessary to make it strong and competitive. In addition to promoting the technological development of metal casting companies, ABIFA stimulates debate on political, economic and social issues to protect the sector and its growth.
