Economic Indicators: Numbers Continue to Slide

Industrial Heating’s monthly economic indicators for December 2015 fell sharply from last month. All four indices were under 50 for the first time since July 2015, and the change in backlog was at its lowest point since November 2013. December 2015’s index numbers reflect the changes experienced by responding companies as they compare their November 2015 business levels to their October 2015 levels. December 2015’s index numbers:
• Change in number of request for quotes from October to November – 46.0
• Change in number of orders from October to November – 45.3
• Change in backlog from October to November – 43.6
• Expected change in the health of the industry through Dec. – 46.8
A number above 50.0 indicates increased activity or growth. A number below 50.0 indicates decreased activity or a decline in growth. Look for these numbers, along with historical values, in January 2016’sIndustrial Heating.
