Magna International Inc. will build a new aluminum casting facility in Telford, U.K., to support Jaguar Land Rover. The 225,000-square-foot plant will create up to 295 jobs at full capacity, and construction is expected to start later this year. Once production begins in 2018, the facility will use Magna’s high-pressure vacuum die-casting process to produce a number of advanced lightweight aluminum castings.
By using these types of castings, automakers can ultimately achieve better fuel economy, safety and handling. Magna, through its Cosma International operating unit, is a premier supplier of body, chassis and engineering solutions to automakers.
