BMW : New plant in Mexico
Investment of one billion dollars, to produce 150,000 units annually. Production expected to start in 2019
TOYOTA: new plant in Mexico
Toyota celebrated the laying of the foundation stone of Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Guanajuato (TMMGT),
the company's fifteenth manufacturing plant in North America.
Starting in 2019, TMMGT will produce Corolla, the world's best selling car and will generate around 2,000 jobs
in the Bajio region. With a capacity to produce 200,000 units a year and an investment of one billion dollars
RENAULT-NISSAN DAIMLER in Mexico
Daimler will start manufacturing compact cars in Mexico next year, in a joint plant with Renault-Nissan and
whose units will be sold in the world market.
JAC: New Chinese plant in Mexico
JAC MOTORS, one of the first Chinese automobile companies, forms an alliance with the Mexican company
Giant Motors that belongs to 50 percent to Carlos Slim, to produce 40,000 vehicles.
FORD: two new plants in Mexico
Two new plants in Mexico: one of new three-cylinder engines and the other of transmissions, 3,800 jobs, derived
from the investment for 2.5 billion dollars
GENERAL MOTORS moves manufacturing of the GMC Terrain SUV from Canada to Mexico, in order to
increase savings in production.
AHMSA, TERNIUM, NUCOR-JFE Steel Mexico (which is the 1000 Japanese company installed in Mexico),
etc. with more significant investments.
