Monterrey-based automotive supplier Nemak opened a US$ 200 million to produce aluminum parts in Garcia, Nuevo Leon.
The production site will manufacture cylinder blocks and transmission cases for automakers such as Ford, General Motors, Audi and Volkswagen using a high pressure die casting (HPDC) process.
This plant will be Nemak’s seventh at the Garcia site and the 36th in its entire system across 15 countries.
On full capacity, the plant and its 610 workers can produce up to 2.2 million parts a year. Local authorities estimate another 1,800 indirect jobs were created along with the plant.
