Expands and improves capabilities to serve wider range of customer needs

SlewPro, a precision manufacturer of slewing rings and drives, and related products, has acquired the assets of Rhino Gear, a provider of steel pinions, gears, pulleys, sprockets, splines, and custom broached internal shapes. SlewPro will continue to use the Rhino Gear brand following the acquisition.

The addition of Rhino Gear adds new products and capabilities while delivering immediate customer benefits said SlewPro President and COO Richard Potesta.

“Rhino Gear is a perfect fit for us,” said Potesta. “They were a trusted supplier of pinions for SlewPro prior to the acquisition, and now we have brought their entire range of capabilities in house.”

In addition to slewing rings, drives and pinions, SlewPro can now produce internal and external gears, ring gears, timing pulleys, sprockets, internal and external splines, keyways, custom broached internal shapes and CNC machined products. Secondary operations include various types of heat treat, grinding or specialty coatings.

The acquisition is a part of a larger effort at SlewPro to serve a wider range of customer needs in terms of design capabilities, responsiveness and product offerings.

“We’re excited to be growing our manufacturing capabilities because it allows us to meet customers’ needs even faster,” said Potesta. “Our ability to deliver on shorter lead times for custom products, special requests and repairs will keep our customers working more smoothly and effectively.”

SlewPro will be adding manufacturing jobs as part of its acquisition of Rhino Gear, and is always looking for talented, experienced machinists who want to be a part of its growing team.
