Automotive Aluminum Design Drives the Conversation
Tweet
Earlier this month, the Aluminum Transportation Group (ATG) hosted the inaugural Aluminum Design Seminar in Novi, Michigan. We welcomed a number of engineers from Ford, General Motors, Toyota and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. Attendees learned best practices in aluminum design from the Association's technical leaders representing Arconic, Novelis, Aleris and Rio Tinto, and participated in a hands-on “show and tell” featuring vehicle closures, extrusions and structural parts made of aluminum.
Several sessions comprised this two-day course, focusing on a wide range of topics, including an introduction to aluminum in automotive; corrosion and repair; aluminum sheet and metallurgy; stamping, forming and joining; extrusion and structural castings. At the end of the Seminar, attendees left equipped with the knowledge to produce new, technologically advanced vehicles that are lighter, more efficient, better performing and safer with the help of aluminum.
Are you interested in attending a future Aluminum Design Seminar? Our invite list for 2019 is already filling up, so bookmark DriveAluminum.org and stay tuned for more information.
