From March 13th-16th, Elkem Foundry Products will be present at Metal & Metallurgy 2019 in Shanghai, China. There, it will highlight Ultraseed Zr® inoculant and Preseed® preconditioner, which support a more sustainable foundry process. 

Metal+Metallurgy China covers an extensive range of exhibits and features five simultaneously-held specialized international expos. It will be held from March 13th-16th, 2019 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. China is increasing its focus on transforming manufacturing and moving up the value chain to a more advanced, technology-driven, smart and green-driven industry. The exhibition provides an excellent stage for the metallurgy and foundry industry to showcase its more sustainable solutions.

Elkem Foundry Products will highlight two more sustainable alternatives, which have been recently added to the portfolio and perfectly meet the markets demands. With increasing attention to environmental protection and with the trend of modern manufacturing, there is a change from cupola to electrical furnace and pneumatic insulated pouring ladles. Besides benefits for the environment and efficiency, the nucleation in the base iron and the quality of casting is affected. This results in a higher demand for pre-treatment and inoculants, which Elkem Foundry Products can provide by Ultraseed Zr ® inoculant and Preseed ® preconditioner.

Ultraseed Zr® inoculant is a rare-earth free inoculant which provides a high nodule count and low carbide tendency, hence reducing the possibility of metallurgical shrinkage.

Visitors can also find out more about Preseed® preconditioner, which generates and stabilises nuclei within the melt and is effective in grey, ductile and compacted graphite irons. It provides consistency in base irons leading to more uniform casting properties, improves graphite morphology, reduces shrinkage and carbide formation and reduces pig iron usage.
