The Aluminium Federation of South Africa (AFSA) is hosting its 2nd AFSA International Aluminium Conference and Exhibition (IACE) on October 25-27, 2022 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) in South Africa.
The South African aluminum industry seeks to be competitive and continuously optimize its resources. Its current strategy is to grow capacity in the sector by increasing aluminum’s local consumption. The industry strives to be energy-efficient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly. However, to become globally competitive and create significant employment with the resultant well-being for communities associated with it, a new aluminum industry must emerge.
The future of the South African aluminum industry is driven by focusing on unique (niche) finished products and expanding the horizons to include regional and global export markets. In this way, the industry will grow to become a net exporter through import replacement, localization and enter the global supply chains through technology partnerships.
The IACE event will kick off with site factory visit to Guala Closures Group on October 25. The company is one of the market leaders in the production of aluminum and non-refillable closures.
The site visit will be followed by two days of conference proceedings, with speakers soon to be announced. The conference presents an opportunity to develop the aluminum industry through the latest information on the aluminum industry’s technology advancements and competitiveness.
The event will also host a two day exhibition, providing a platform for companies to showcase their aluminum products and services. In addition to building relationships, exhibitions are an excellent place to introduce a new product or service.
Additionally, the conference will include host additional networking events, including a cocktail party on October 26 and a wine tour to the finest wineries in the Stellenbosch and Franschhoek area on October 28 (following the conference).
The AFSA is an active aluminum industry association and has, since 1981, been involved in increasing the awareness and use of aluminum in Southern Africa.
