(SCHAUMBURG, IL, September 10. 2025)

The American Foundry Society, North America’s largest metalcasting organization, today announced a revision to its Board-leadership succession plan.

The change was made following the resignation of Sara Joyce, who had been 2nd Vice President, from the Society’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors. Joyce has recently retired from Badger Mining.

AFS announced that George Boyd, Jr. (CEO and President at Goldens’ Foundry and Machine Company) has been elected to serve out the remainder of the 2nd Vice President term through April 2026, and to move through the other Board leadership positions thereafter.

Boyd has served on the Board of Directors since 2022. He is a member of the AFS Finance Committee, the Government Affairs Division, and the Education & Training Task Force. He also is past Chair of Georgia Association of Manufacturers.

There is no change to the other officer positions which includes David Gilson (SinterCast) as President; John Lancaster (General Motors) as Vice President; and Angela Schmeisser (St. Marys Foundry) as Immediate Past President.
