European Metallurgical Conference.

Issued at 2011-04-21

The European Metallurgical Conference (EMC) and the four trade fairs GIFA, METEC, THERMPROCESS and NEWCAST are being held again at the same time and place, providing an unparalleled opportunity to get an in-depth insight into the issues that the metallurgical community is currently facing!

This combination of the high-level trade conference EMC and the wide range covered by the 'Bright World of Metals', i.e. the four technology trade fairs in general and METEC in particular, is an excellent chance for you as experts to meet for an interesting and productive exchange of information and experience. Whereas high-tech machines and equipment for the production, processing and finishing of metals of all kinds will be on show at the international metallurgical technology trade fair METEC, EMC 2011 will provide the scientific/technical background to all the questions that are being tackled in the non-ferrous metals field.

An additional attraction is the fact that both the EMC and the 'Bright World of Metals' will be focussing this time on the minimisation of energy and resource input that will be so important in future.

As organiser of the EMC, the German Society for Mining, Metallurgy, Resource and Environmental Technology (GDMB) has chosen 'Resources efficiency in the non-ferrous metals industry – optimisation and improvement' as the motto for 2011. Messe Düsseldorf has launched the campaign 'ecoMetals – Efficient Process Solutions' for the four metal trade fairs. Attention will be drawn to the exhibitors whose products and processes represent technical solutions with excellent potential to make a sustainable improvement in energy and resource efficiency by displaying a special logo on their stands. An additional site plan will lead directly to the participants in this project, so that all trade visitors will be able to inform themselves specifically about new products, machines, equipment and services that guarantee even more efficient production.

As a result Düsseldorf will be the international centre for the metallurgical industry in every respect in June 2011.

Welcome to Europe!

GDMB Gesellschaft für Bergbau, Metallurgie, Rohstoffund Umwelttechnik (GDMB Society for Mining, Metallurgy, Resource and Environmental Technology), is organising this international congress.

EUROMETAUX, the European association of non-ferrous metals industries, has welcomed the GDMB's initiative of holding a comprehensive and international metals conference to demonstrate efficient European technologies in comparison to other important technology centres in the world. The international significance of the European Metallurgical Conference was made evident by the past five conferences.

The last EMC at Innsbruck attracted over 300 participants from more than 40 countries, from industry and universities, from administration and research institutions. Poster presentations will provide information about current metallurgical research activities at universities and in the industry. The ancillary metallurgical trade fairs, GIFA, METEC, THERMPROCESS and NEWCAST, organised by Messe Düsseldorf, will give a comprehensive overview of the entire world metals industry.

As a traditional supporter of the EMC, EUROMETAUX expresses the industry's support of both the idea and the conference itself, offering companies an opportunity to present their developments, processes and products to an experienced international audience of experts. Industry will demonstrate its ability to compete internationally thanks to innovation and quality. The universities will present their research initiatives for future developments and solutions to problems.

EUROMETAUX is convinced that not only the participants themselves, but also their companies and the entire metallurgical industry, will benefit from the information exchange at EMC 2011 in Düsseldorf!

European enlargement is included in the programme, in the form of post-conference tours and field trips to interesting metallurgical plants that will complete the conference programme.
