Britain's Zamin Ferrous said Thursday it has made its first iron ore shipment to China, a 31,000-tonne cargo from Brazil. The ore came from the Zamapa project in the northern Brazilian state of Amapá, and left the South American country via Santana port. Zamin expects the region to have more than 300 million tonnes of iron ore.
Also, Zamin announced a definitive feasibility study of its Valentines iron ore development in Uruguay, estimating an investment of US$ 3 billion to extract 18 million tonnes of ore a year. The area is Zamin's flagship project after the company sold some of its areas in the Brazilian state of Bahia to ENRC last year.
